Qatar is only the second country to host the World Cup without having qualified for a previous edition of the competition, making this the first time Qatar will be in the World Cup tournament. It is also the smallest nation to ever host the World Cup.

World Cup 2022 dates

The Qatar World Cup dates are 21 November – 18 December.

The opening match, played by Qatar as the hosting team, will be played on 21st November, 2022, at 11:00 local time (CET) at the Al Bayt Stadium.

The final match will be held on 18th December, 2022 at 16:00 (CET). It will be played at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Four matches will be played per day, with kick-offs at 13:00, 16:00, 19:00, and 22:00. The third place match will be played on 17 December, 2022, at the Khalifa International Stadium, and the final match will be played on 18th December 2022. However, no other venues for matches will be known until March 2022. This will allow the organisers to pick the best venue according to broadcasting and supporters.

Qualified Teams for World Cup 2022

The teams that have qualified for World Cup 2022 until now are Qatar, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland, Netherlands and Argentina.
