EDUCATION CITY STADIUM

The Education City Stadium, also known as Qatar Foundations Stadium is one of the 8 stadiums dedicated to the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Located in the Ar-Rayyan Municipality, this 40,000-seat venue will host five first group round matches, one Round of 16 match, and one quarter final.

Opened in mid-2020 with a special TV program to celebrate, the Education City Stadium lies in the eastern part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development area, which houses 8 leading international and a local university.

The design of
Education City Stadium

The facade of the stadium is composed of triangles that reflect the light as the sun moves across the sky, representing a diamond in the desert. Fenwick Iribarren Architects based the design on the notions of quality, durability, and resilience in hopes that the venue will be treasured for years to come.

In line with the 2022 Qatar World Cup’s focus on sustainability and developing a better future, the stadium was built with environmentally aware practises in mind to help reduce its carbon footprint. Some of those practises include using sustainable and recycled building materials, a real-time water and energy control and monitoring system, and the use of drought-tolerant and native species in the landscaping of the area.

During the 2022 World Cup, football fans will be able to enjoy green spaces and state-of-the-art amenities surrounding the venue, including football training pitches, a golf course and shops.
