Education City Stadium, located in Al Rayyan, is one of the stadiums that will be used in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It was built specifically for the World Cup, and will have a capacity of 43,350.
It gets its name because it’s located in several university campuses at what’s known as the Qatar Foundation’s Education City. It’s located just outside the capital of Doha, and was nicknamed the “Diamond in the Desert.” It’s also been dubbed one of the most environmentally-sustainable stadiums in the world.
Education City Stadium will be the host for eight matches in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, including one Round of 16 match and one quarterfinals match.
It all starts with Denmark vs. Tunisia (Group D) on November 22, followed by Uruguay vs. South Korea (Group H) on November 24, Poland vs. Saudi Arabia (Group C) on November 26, South Korea vs. Ghana (Group H) on November 28, Tunisia vs. France (Group D) on November 30, and South Korea vs. Portugal (Group H) on December 2.
The stadium will host the Round of 16 match between the winners of Group F and the runners-up of Group E on December 6, and then a quarterfinals match on December 9.
